Ben Gurion air track


When it was established by the British Mandate authorities , in 1936 , before the establishment of the state , the air track was named "Wilhelma air track" after the Templar colony Wilhelma (now the " Bnei Atarot " moshav ), on whose lands it was established. It was formerly known as "Lod air track" after the nearby city of Lod to the south. In 1973 , after the death of David Ben-Gurion , the first Prime Minister of the State of Israel , the air track was renamed and named after him.


The field is operated by the air track Authority , and serves as the centre of activity and management seat of El Al , Israel 's flagship company kameymall . The port also serves as the centre of activity of the Israeli airlines Israir and Arkia and of the cargo company KAL. In 2019 , 24,821,767 passengers passed through the port.


ben-Gurion air track is located in a flat area in the lowlands at an altitude of 30 to 41 metres above sea level . It is located on the edge of Gush Dan, close to the road to Jerusalem ( Route 1 ), about 20 km southeast of Tel Aviv and about 13 km from the shores of the Mediterranean . The port is shaped like a triangle,and its area is drained through Nahal Ayalon , which flows through an artificial canal south of the field, Nahal Beit  Arif , out of two of the flight paths , and Nahal Yehud, which runs north of the field, between it and the city of Yehud .


Number of localitiesThey are located near the borders of the port, and these include Zetian and Yagel to the south, Tzafria , Hamad and Kfar Chabad to the west, Or Yehuda and Yehud-Monosson to the north and Bnei Atarot , Tirat Yehuda , Beit Arif and Kfar Truman to the east. Close to the east of the port is also the business park and the high-tech industry air track City , where a number of companies and organisations 


Thus, in December 2000 , Interior Minister Haim Ramon set up a committee headed by architect Yossi Farhi to examine the borders of Lod and Ramla (which we examined union), and annexed Ben Gurion air track to Lod-Ramla when the committee was originally intended to discuss joining air track City before the expropriation. In August 2002 , the director general of the Ministry of the Interior set up another committee to examine the issue of the area on which Ben Gurion air track and the air track City industrial zone stand and the possibility of dividing revenues between nearby authorities under Professor Aryeh Shachar .

This proposal aims to allow the municipality new to enjoy the fruits of taxes to the municipal urban and rebuild the city of Lod, but to the employees of the air track Authority expressed its opposition to the proposal.[1]In November 2016 , the five authorities near Ben Gurion air track (Yehud-Monson, Or Yehuda, Lod Valley, Modi'in and the city of Lod) appealed to Interior Minister Aryeh Deri to divide Ben Gurion air track's property tax revenues among the authorities that suffer from Ben Gurion air track's restrictions such as noise, altitude Construction and more without sharing revenue. Following this, Minister Aryeh Deri decided to establish a committee under former Interior Ministry director Gaby Maimon to examine the geographical boundaries of Ben Gurion air track and the issue of the distribution of property tax revenues between Ben Gurion air track and nearby localities (Lod, Emek Lod, Yehud- Monson, Shoham, Or Yehuda and the Modi'in region). 


According to the decision made in early 2018 and approved by the Finance CommitteeIn March 2018, it was decided that the land of Ben Gurion air track will remain within the "cylindrical space" and not be associated with neighbouring authorities and did not pay the taxes to be paid also from the air track authorities around, but some of the budgets transferred to the Interior Ministry on profitable activities will be distributed by the Ministry of Finance between the authorities as grants, 150 NIS 1 million annually for 2018 and 2019 and NIS 100 million from 2020.
